I love sitting in the stillness as the morning sun peers through a window.
I love the smell (and taste) of coffee roasted with hazelnut.
I love buying cute coffee mugs and big fuzzy socks.
I love rainy days and watching as each rain drop slowly hits the window sill.
I love the sound of crickets singing in the night as the stars brightly fill the dark sky.
I (secretly) love cancelled plans and days filled with cuddles on the couch.
I love the smell of old books with crinkled pages and notes in the margin.
I love the sound of a crackling fireplace and how the smoke twirls and dances above the flames.
I love old bookstores filled with creaky wooden floors and old leather chairs.
I love the feeling of cool summer grass against my bare feet.
I love fishing on a dock while my toes dangle in the water below.
I love sunsets over an open field while rocking in a creaky rocking chair.
I love talks that dig deep into the soul and expose the raw and vulnerable pieces.
I love the burning colors of fall & the cool crispness that lingers in the air.
I love to travel, but I also love the familiarity of home.
I love the joyful sound my daughters laughter as she plays peek-a-boo with her daddy.
I love the big goofy ear-to-ear smile of my husband.
but most of all.. I love Jesus.
It’s so nice to meet you and I’m so glad you’re here!
I’m Ashley Mae and I grew up in a small southern town in the middle of nowhere North Carolina. My older sister and I spent our summers running barefoot in a open field and swinging for hours in an old tire swing that hung from an huge oak tree. We were surrounded by cows, goats and chickens and an old red barn that my dad built board by board. From day one, the southern way of life has had my heart. My porch will always have a rocking chair and my glass is usually full of sweet tea.
I’ve been known to tell like it is and then phrase “bless your heart” seems to spill out of my mouth quite often. I am fluent in sarcasm and I am a big kid at heart.
I hope this little blog of mine will inspire you, encourage you and challenge you to dig deep inside yourself with confidence and chase, without hesitation the desires God has laid on your heart. I hope my stories make you laugh, maybe even cry (hey, we all need it sometimes) and know that you are considered a friend.
Let’s do life together shall we!?
Why The Name “The Belle Life Blog”
The name The Belle Life is a combination of two meanings for me. The first draws from my Southern roots and the way of life for a Southern Belle. The second involves the meaning of the term “belle” which is actually french for beautiful.
To me a beautiful life is not always picture perfect, it is finding beauty in even the messy hard to deal with days and situations. It is also picking up the cross and following our Savior, trusting him and acknowledging him with all our heart even when we don’t understand his plan and knowing he will direct our paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6) Therefore on my blog you will find raw, honest and real parts of me and my life.
The Heart Behind The Blog
Here on The Belle Life Blog, you will find bits and pieces of my heart.
My hope is that when you come to my blog you feel as though you are in sitting cross legged on a big comfy couch with a cup of hot coffee in your hand and reading stories that you can relate too and make you wanna shout things like “YES, Me too girl!”
I promise I will ALWAYS be real and honest & connect with you any way I can. I am not perfect, I don’t have it all together and I will never portray that I do. Most of my days are spent sipping microwaved twice coffee, figuring out the whole first time mom thing, wearing yoga pants & trying to rock the messy bun (it always seems to look like a spider on my head, anyone else!?). I want to live life with you, support you, inspire you, pray for you & encourage you. I want to motivate you and help you live life with purpose, speak with intention and always glorify him!
Here on The BLB you will find posts on my journey through marriage, first time motherhood, finding affordable modest outfits (BC this girl LOVES a good deal and comfy clothes) and living out God’s will for my life. You will also find helpful resources on blogging and business and studying the Bible.
