This past weekend we saw our first snow fall of the winter! *Que super happy dance!* They were orignally calling for 11 inches but we only ended up getting about 2, which I was totally bummed about but at least we got some, right!? I woke up Saturday to the light from my window being a little brighter and I jumped up with anticipation to see the white covered ground.
Snow. There is something so magical to me about snow. As it falls sloftly & silently from the sky it makes you look up in awe and wonder. It makes people stop and appreciate its beauty as it lays there untouched shining from the reflection of the sun. I think the thing I love the most about it though is how pure it is. How even in a cold dead season it seems to bring beauty to its beholders.
As I watched the snow fall, I couldn’t help but think of Isaiah 1:18 which says
“Come now, let’s settle this,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlett, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.”
How beautiful is it to know that even though we are sinners, God makes us white as snow? Let that sink in my sister. You see, God and us, we are a lot like snow. Each snowflake is different, unique, just like all of us. Each snowflake falls on its own but it is reunited with the others once it hits the ground, kind of like our brothers and sisters in Christ. The most beautiful thing though is that snow happens in a lifeless & dead season. In a way it brings beauty to a dark winter. Just like Jesus brings life and beauty when we are dead in spirit.
If you are struggling with sin or thinking that you are unlovable, I want you to know that you are SO loved. If I could sit down with you and tell you my story you would see it has had many struggles and downfalls but I have hope in knowing I am redeemed. I am His precious daughter, and so are you.
In all the awe and wander of the snow, I decided to grab my husband for a little photo shoot in the snow. I had been contacted by a wonderful boutique to do a post on their gorgeous tulle skirt and I immediately said yes and thought this was the perfect opportunity to shoot it.
It is a gorgeous maxi blush skirt with a ribbon lined waistband and it made me feel like a complete princess. The bottom layer had a silk lined skirt with layers upon layers of gorgeous tulle over top. I couldn’t decide on what shirt to wear with it so I took photos with two different shirts, a white turtle neck and a blue button up chambrey shirt. I completed the look with some cowgirl boots of course because this Southern Belle takes any chance to wear cowgirl boots.
It was pretty cold but my husband and I had a blast shooting it laughing at how the wind would gust in and I would smile and grunt at the same time.
Needless to say, I had the most magical day in the snow and am so incredibly thankful for the little reminder of God’s love & grace.
